About Me

Ian McLauchlan studied with Kate Hill & Trevor Wye at the Royal Northern College of Music , Manchester, England.

Ian started making headjoints and repairing flutes in 1980 and since then has established himself as one of the leading Flute Technicians in the UK, maintaining instruments belonging to many professional players. Ian is the resident Flute Technician at Jonathan Myall Music in the UK.

Ian writes a regular column for Flutewise magazine concerning care & maintenance of the flute.

Ian plays professionally on a freelance basis throughout the South East of England and abroad.

Ian plays on a Bonneville plated flute, serial number 2054 fitted with one of his own headjoints. (serial number 007!!)

Ian is married to Dixie and they have two children, Felicity & Pippa. Ian enjoys good food, real ale and fine wines (but not necessarily in that order!)
